As I hurried by from the JR Line to my coveted destination of Yanaka Cemetary (after multiple transfers and a few wrong turns), I noticed a pile up of bikes that stretched for half a city block. Literally. The diversity of bikes and their riot of colors made me smile on a very gray spring day in Tokyo. And none of the bikes were chained up. I bet you could leave a bike in the pile for a month and come back to find it in the same place (with all parts intact)! "Right on...that's the spirit," I thought! Yes...ride on.
