Paintings
My painting has meandered in many directions over the years, beginning with a firm foundation in drawing, then an intensive study of watercolor, next learning how to use oil paints in the style of the Renaissance Venetian masters, and finally to where I am today—an artist who craves a mad scientist mix of everything. Currently, I work with a firm backed canvas to which I apply a joint compound typically used in drywall applications. This unique environment makes oil paint react more like watercolor and creates a background of texture that fuels my creativity. Right now, I am working on a series of abstracts that have roots in the sinuous aerial views of lakes in Wisconsin as seen from a single-engine airplane.
