A few springs ago in Milwaukee, I took a very moody photo full of harsh angles while admiring the Milwaukee Art Museum. It was a gloomy, rainy sort of spring day, the kind where the clouds seem to hang lower and heavier than humanly possible, with just the barest hint of steel blue seeping through the atmosphere. It was as if the city was holding its breath, waiting for something to happen. Now, after second, third, and fourth passes with digital painting, I feel like the photo captures the full feeling of the day as the Calatrava addition seems to pierce directly into the heart of the cloud cover, releasing that long-held breath. What happens next is up to you!
